Mow, scarify, pick up, blow... there's still work in the garden this fall!

Due to lower temperatures, it is usually this month that the grass must be mowed for the last time. The exact moment of mowing depends on the soil temperature. When the soil temperature is less than 6 degrees, the grass shall stop growing and be cut only in the following season.

When weeding for the last time, do not adjust the cutting height below 4 cm. Otherwise, plants and roots will be too weak and yellow spots will appear in the lawn. Short grass is less resistant to moss and weeds, which will more easily occupy the empty lawn space.

Scarify your lawn

Scarification is a method that allows to regenerate an old grass, invaded by foams and a slight layer of felt blocking gas exchange and water passage. It aerates the soil and unties the entangled roots effectively.

It is possible to do up to two scarifications a year especially if your lawn is located on shaded ground or on acidic soil, parameters further accentuating the moss growth phenomenon.

The second scarification may take place in autumn to strengthen the grass before winter.
